HOST/SERVER
Seasonal: now through Saturday, December 19
-Must be able to work on Thanksgiving
-The restaurant will be closed for the holidays, through mid-February

First impressions are everything. We are looking for a true ‘people person’ who can welcome and seat guests ~ getting them settled in for the evening ~ and share the story behind our restaurant, Henning’s cooking traditions, and what’s currently growing in our garden.

Julia’s Local is a well-oiled machine made up of industry professionals. The shifts are relatively short and very busy, so time flies fast.

You’ll collaborate with a small team in the dining room and bar. You’ll assist in taking overall orders, delivering drinks at the start of the meal, and jump in to take dessert orders at the end. You’ll also support our lead server (Kaya) and our food runner (Maya), by clearing tables between courses, cleaning and resetting tables between parties, and generally assisting dining room and bar staff, as needed.

You’ll also handle selected side work (during/after service) and contributes to the overall close-out procedures.

We are extremely fortunate to serve the most wonderful and diverse folks dining at Julia’s Local coming from the Catskills, Hudson Valley, and beyond our region. Our guests are gracious, grateful, and engaged with what we are doing. And we are especially blessed with loyal regulars who come week in and week out. You may start out as strangers, but you’ll inevitably end up making lots of new friends.

Days & hours:
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday
4:30pm until closing (around 10:30pm)

Compensation:
$30-$40/hour based on experience
Compensation considered for travel time/gas

Skills & physical requirements for all positions:
-Hospitality experience required — training provided
-Basic knowledge of a POS system (Square, Toast, etc.)
-Team-oriented attitude
-Strong communication skills
-Attention to detail
-Ability to lift, carry, and balance items such as trays and stacks of plates
-Ability to stand, walk, and move around the restaurant (first/second floor staircase) for extended periods
